La Salle (also spelled Lassalle) is a small market town in the Garde region in the south of France. I went to the market several times in the two weeks I was in the area. You can smell the market before you see it—fresh fruits and vegetables are the smells that hit you first. This farmer was selling vegetables and gourds from his stand. Our hosts referred to him as un zippie. Zippie? You know, one of les hippies. Ah.
