My wife and I were in the south of France, and stopped in at Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert, not far from Montpelier, on a blistering hot day in August. The town is on the Chemin de St-Jacques, the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella in Spain. I saw a woman walk by the abbey church, and took two frames. They moved part of the abbey cloister to the U.S., and it’s now part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Cloisters.
